Rafet Yağız Çalışkan

Junior Energy Analyst

Rafet Yağız Çalışkan works as a Junior Energy Analyst at SHURA Energy Transition Center. Çalışkan graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University Energy Systems Engineering Department (in English) with an honor degree in 2021. 

He wrote his undergraduate thesis as a feasibility study on the application of the carbon capture and storage system to the city of Izmir.  In his post-graduation period, he contributed to the engineering literature by publishing his thesis under the name of “Direct Air Capture System: A Feasibility Study for Izmir” in the British journal “International Journal of Sustaniable Energy”. 

After his graduation, he worked as a thesis advisor assistant. Simultaneously with his working life, he continues his master’s degree in the Department of Energy Technologies at Yıldız Technical University.

Çalışkan joined SHURA Energy Transition Center with a long-term internship in April 2022, and started his professional career as a Junior Energy Analyst in September 2022. Çalışkan continues his work on new technologies, energy transition, renewable energy and energy efficiency within SHURA. In the current situation, he has contributed to more than five reports as an author. Subjects of these reports are; Türkiye’s energy transition outlook, strategic uses of green hydrogen, global trends in offshore wind energy and recommendations for Türkiye, and net-zero carbon target. Additionally, he manages SHURA Dashboard, the platform that SHURA shares energy industry’s data in a single digital address.
