Mustafa Karahan
Mustafa Karahan is an economist holding a BA degree from Ankara SBF (Class of 1990) and an MBA degree from NY Institute of Technology (Class of 1997).
He started his career as an equity trader in Istanbul in 1990 but switched to banking at Turk Eximbank. Worked at marketing and sales departments for Broadway Inc. in NY between 1994-1998.
He has traded various financial products in his career for different financial institutions in different markets.
He left his final banking position at HSBC in 2004 to start his own forfeiting business in Kazakhstan.
His firm executed more than USD 500 million forfeiting transactions in four years and invested in different business sectors such as construction chemicals (Usta – BASF Central Asia) and concrete (BetonAta – Ciments Français Group).
He moved back to Istanbul in 2008 and established power trading company with EFT Group.
He has been advising number of institutions through his new company Dragon Energy, Finance & Trade since 2012.
He is the founding Chairman of the Energy Traders Association of Turkey (ETD) and currently is the Deputy Chairman.
He is a board member in Montel Foreks A.S., Energy Pool Turkey A.S. and EPİAŞ (the Energy Exchange of Turkey) in addition to chairing the Turkish Energy Summit.
