Bekir Ağırdır was born in Çal, Denizli in 1956. He graduated from the department of Business Administration at the Middle East Technical University. Ağırdır has worked as manager at several industrial companies between 1979 – 2003. He worked at History Foundation of Turkey as director general between 2003 and 2005.  He is the director of KONDA Research and Consultancy Company.
