Bakatjan Sandalkhan is a Managing Director in Infrastructure and Capital Projects at Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), where he leads Power & Utilities across the Middle East and Africa.

With more than 30 years of experience in energy and infrastructure, Sandalkhan has worked as an operator, investor, and advisor throughout his career. Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, he spent more than 10 years at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he was a core member of BCG’s global Energy and Corporate Development practices.

He has worked with leading international and Turkish energy companies across Türkiye and the region on market entry strategy, investment portfolio analysis, petroleum products supply and trading, renewable and distributed energy — particularly solar photovoltaic systems — market modelling, and retail energy strategy.

He has contributed to the design and implementation of Türkiye’s electricity trading market and the natural gas trading platform supporting Türkiye’s ambition to become a natural gas hub. He also has extensive experience working with domestic energy companies and public institutions on regulatory and policy development.
