While these changes will provide opportunities for new fields of work, they will have a negative impact on employment in some carbon intensive sectors, which will shrink or become obsolete. Beyond the losses of employment opportunities in carbon intensive sectors, changes in ways of doing business in all existing sectors and different skills requirements may have negative consequences for workers unable to adapt to the transition. Therefore, trnasition to a low carbon economy should be planned\/visualized as a process which would maximize the benefits to society while minimizing or eliminating risks brought about by the transformation.
