Yael Taranto

Senior Energy Analyst

Yael Taranto works as Energy Analyst at SHURA Energy Transition Center. Yael worked as Manager/Economist at the Industrial Development Bank of Turkey (TSKB) during 1996-August 2018. At TSKB she was involved in sector analysis, consulting, valuation and project finance where she prepared over 300 feasibility and project assessment reports. In the energy sector she assessed over 200 energy generation projects and has consulted for the first private sector electricity and natural gas distribution projects in Turkey. Yael has also worked in close contact with development finance institutions, such as the World Bank, European Investment Bank, Islamic Development Bank, German Development Bank (KfW), and French Development Bank (AFD), in designing loan facilities with specific themes for TSKB. For this purpose, she prepared reports and participated in negotiations on energy, renewable energy and environment. She has also contributed to the conceptual framework of Turkey’s first Green Bond issued by TSKB in 2016. In addition to her work in the bank, she has been active in writing various energy reports, publishing short articles and newspaper pieces, and giving presentations at universities (Koç University, Bilgi University, Boğaziçi University, Istanbul Technical University) on energy, sustainable development and project finance. Yael holds a B.A. in Economics from Smith College and an M.A. in International Political Economy and Development from Fordham University in USA.
